What is a QPod™? |
A refrigerated palletized container/storage unit capable
of freighting temperature sensitive perishables over distance. |
| |
How does a QPod™ differ from other
forms of refrigerated transport?
By its size, portability and temperature
control performance. The QPod™ is designed so that
it can be moved with it's cargo throughout the entire distribution
chain. This means
at transfer
points
the cargo is not handled only the QPod™. This feature
together with new technologies ensures optimal temperature
control is maintained at all times. |
| |
What are the fundamental
patented components of the QPod™?
The revolutionary air
distribution system, the QPod™ configuration,
ducting and insulation and the refrigeration mechanism
located in the base of the QPod.
| |
Can the QPod™ be accessed during
transit to allow for Customs and Agricultural inspection
without degradation of the temperature?
QPods™ can be
easily inspected via a hinged door or removable panel.
| |
What is the Power Source required to operate?
Via a single phase power
supply to a standard 240V connection. Multi plugs are fitted
to all QPods™ to
enable power attachment in whatever country of transit or
destination, Europe 220V
60Hz, USA 110V 60Hz, NZ-Australia 240V 50Hz, Japan 100V 50Hz
and 100V 60Hz. Customers should confirm with QPod™ Systems
the QPod™ model required for operation in their country.
A short inferface extension lead is available for different
power plug connections.
| |
What if the incorrect power source is plugged in?
A no-start safety device has been installed which will automatically
switch the unit to the correct voltage.
| |
How does the QPod™ retain its
pre-determined temperature when no power source is available
to it?
Without power the QPod™ can hold
temperature for a number of hours with little variance (depending
on the ambient
conditions of the day and product carried). In addition a
euteric tank can be installed in the upper ceiling
of the
pod
to assist
with
down time cooling.
| |
What freight options are available with
QPods™? |
QPods™ can be road, rail or sea
freighted. We are mid way through developing a QPod for air
freight which can maintain
temperature in a powered off state for longer periods of
time and within airline guidelines.
| |
At what point in the supply chain would
QPod™ be used?
Gate to Plate. QPods™ can be delivered to the producers
to allow for coolstorage on the spot. Once ready QPods™ can
be
collected,
they are then under refrigeration
the entire journey to end destination.
| |
What monitoring options are available
with a QPod™? |
We can provide flexible monitoring options
which are dependent upon the clients’ requirements.
Mobile monitoring is available, and for high value cargoes
graphic reports are available including independent reports
if required.
| |
What if the power to the QPod™ fails?
Operators are responsible for ensuring
power to QPods™.
They will need to develop their own inspection systems. QPods™ can
be fitted with a power off alarm. If
power is not available, as QPods™ are insulated it
could take several hours before the temperature
inside changes significantly.
| |
How secure is a QPod™?
Each QPod™ can
be provided with a secure seal that would identify if the
QPod had been opened or accessed.
| |
What can we anticipate as a percentage waste reduction?
Waste reduction is product dependent, but we know that by
regulating the temperature from harvest point, when the product
is at its optimum, to its end destination we can in many cases
significantly if not completely reduce wastage.
| |
